Marine Husband
Location: Fayetville, NC

"I moved from Pennsylvania to North Carolina to be a nanny... Then met my future husband, who at the time was a Marine.  We got married, things were good - he did great and loved being in the Marines, until he busted his knee prior to a deployment.  They sent him over to Iraq anyway - 14 months he was gone, hobbling around on a bad knee.  It got so horribly torn up not having proper care, that when he got back, it was time to fill out the paperwork for him to get out.  This was devastating to him, as he loved to run, loved the physical parts of being a Marine...  10 miles a day was his release.  He has no cartilage in his left knee, and cannot bend it or walk on it well let alone think of running on it.  He was able to get enrolled in school, and it was paid for through the GI Bill, which also provided us with a stipend - which was great since he couldn't find any work.  Then, in May he graduated.
He is a college graduate, former Marine who couldn't find any work at all.  I have been working 2 jobs (nanny and barista).  He does get some for disability, but it hasn't been enough.  He finally got hired to work part time delivering pizza; my amazing Marine and college graduate - it kills his knee being on his feet, sometimes it feels like even more money is going out because of putting gas in the car for his job.   Every bill is behind, the collections call hourly....  I'm a 27 year old woman who is wondering how the electric bill and car payment will get paid.   We don't have enough money to pay bills let alone think about Christmas.  I babysat for some neighbors to have enough to buy a tree; and my husband asked why we were buying one when we couldn't afford to put anything under it.

I know there are so many more who are in such greater need.  We don't have kids; we have 3 rescue dogs who are our furbabies that we love so much.   I hate that I won't have anything for my husband under the tree.  I would love to have anything for him under there.  His computer just broke (He did computer stuff in the Marines, he built his from scratch 2 years ago, an amazing computer!!) it completely died.... Which adds to the gloom feeling this year!    And we can't afford to even think about fixing it right now. He loves Captain America, books, and the Oakland Raiders.  I don't care about me, but my husband works so hard, and has sacrificed so much.  He is my world....  Every day I think of 3 positive words to keep me going.  It's like Dory says (Finding Nemo) "Just keep swimming" - that's what we shall do!"

UPDATE FROM MARINE WIFE AFTER I CONTACTED HER:
"I have tears running down my face....You see,  last night our dryer broke, the part that spins the clothes out in the washing machine broke several weeks ago, so I have been wringing things out by hand - I think I haven't been doing a great enough job, which is why the dyer gave up...  He came in last night just devastated,  It was another thing to go wrong... ( I have since bought a drying rack, and goodness does having laundry up in the bedroom make it smell fresh ;) !! ) Thank you for taking the time to bless him this Christmas via your blog."

Let's help this Marine have a great Christmas! He has sacrificed so much not only for his wife, but for his country!
He would love to rebuild his computer so gift cards to Newegg.com, Amazon, or Best Buy would be amazing!
Maybe gift cards to Sears for a new washer/dryer?

Police Officer Needs to See
Location: Salina, KS

"Please understand how hard it is for me to do this. I am not someone who usually needs to ask anything from anyone, it kills me when I can't make a certain bill on time because I had to buy shoes for my daughter or pay a bill that didn't get paid last month. So I come to you now asking for help in providing one basic, but necessary need for my husband. He is a simple guy, doesn't need much, can live off of eggs, cheese, and tortillas for every meal for a month. I know, I have seen him do this before. He doesn't speak up when he needs something or bring to my attention that I forgot to get him the one thing he asked for at the store (I usually remember a day later and feel terrible). My husband is a Police Officer. He is used to taking a backseat to other people's needs. Considering someone else's feelings before his own and helping people who have done him wrong because that is his job. He sometimes works 24 hour shifts without complaining and will come home, get a few hours of sleep and head back out. He has missed many bedtimes, wake ups, and parent meetings for our little girl and I can see that it breaks his heart when he walks in for his break at 9 p.m. and she is already asleep. My point is, he works extremely hard and asks for nothing. Which brings me to the reason for this request, he has poor eye sight. He has glasses, but for obvious reasons he needs to be able to see with precision in extenuating and sometimes dangerous circumstances. Sometimes glasses do not allow for this, so he wears contacts. He will be coming up to the end of his previous 6 month supply in a week and we don't have the extra $120 in our budget right now to pay for them with property taxes, insurance premiums due, medical bills, groceries, and the few gifts we were able to pick up for our daughter, etc. I asked him where he was at on his contacts the other day and in true fashion he said, "I'm out. But I can try and make these last" If you could find it in your heart to help someone who doesn't make a fuss about himself and provide him with something he sees a necessity, I would be forever grateful. It could be in the form of a Visa Giftcard or whichever way you feel compelled to do it. And when we are able to get back on our feet again, I could only hope to be able to provide someone with a gift like this. Thank you and have a blessed holiday!"

This police officer is in need of Visa gift cards. Let's help this man out who helps keep us safe on a daily basis and puts everyone else's needs before his. DeeDe
Location: Fall City, WA

"DeeDe is a childhood friend. We, and so many of her friends went through school together for many, if not all, of our school years. DeeDe hasn't been dealt the easiest life, but would gladly give you the shirt off her back in a heartbeat! I want to share with you what her best friend shared with me while I recently rallied my friends to join my campaign and perform a "Random Act of Kindness" directed toward Dee. I basically used Facebook to ask everyone to send DeeDee a small gift card without mention who it was from, just to help lift her spirits. She had several things going wrong at her home, including a leaky shower, broken washer, leaky roof, computer gone haywire, and many others. Although she would share her troubles, she always found the bright side of her predicaments. The response has been great, and I am hoping her mailbox is filled with "Random Acts of Kindness!" But DeeDe needs more. This is what Shirley had to say about Dee's health and home:

"Deede has auto-immune diseases. Rheumatoid Arthritis. Lupus and Schleromyexadema (not sure if I spelled that right). The last one is the worst, it is hardening her veins and arteries, it is a vascular disease.
She has had her arteries replaced with synthetic from her aorta all the way down to her femoral arteries in her legs. The arteries in her legs are failing and it is just a matter of time before she loses her left leg. She can still walk but needs a wheelchair if she will be on her feet to long or distances are too long. Its also affecting the veins in her lungs and she has been fighting an infection in them. It is affecting the arteries in her brain and she has been having small surface strokes. It also affects the arteries in her face and it will swell, especially around her eyes. She has lost three of her front teeth and is seeing the dentist today.
Deede lives in a small house at her mom and dads cabin. Her dad is the one that helps her the most but he has a bad heart and doesn't always have an easy time of it."

Two years ago, at our 30 year high school reunion, DeeDe made it, with wheelchair and all! Smiling all the way, and happy to see everyone!

It has now come to my attention that in years past they ran out of propane at their home, and were very cold. It is my Christmas wish that DeeDe gets her tank full, maybe filled again, and she not have to worry about staying warm this winter. If you can help monetarily with that, or with a small gift card of some kind, that would be awesome! "

DeeDe could benefit from gift cards to Walmart, Target or Home Depot or Lowe's to fill her propane tank.
